Date: 2019-09-25 08:28 pm (UTC)How do you like your brownies?
Voice
Date: 2019-09-25 11:34 pm (UTC)I'm surprised the Doctor didn't warn you to stay away from me. [She gasps] Or did he do just that and you've decided to talk to me anyway? You naughty thing.
[A pause]
And what's this about brownies?

Date: 2019-09-26 03:49 am (UTC)I'm making you brownies. Kind of hurts getting to a new universe, thinkin' you found him again and he's all... you know. I kinda thought he'd be a bit more thrilled to see another TimeLord at all. Maybe not his youngest self, but definitely the older one. He certainly whined about bein' alone enough. And if you're even a tenth as out of sorts about this as I feel about school, you've definitely earned a real treat. Not just tea. A proper gooey whole pan of comfort food.
Or is sweets just a him thing? His first face I met wasn't the type, but the rest of him seems to eat nothin' but sugar, I swear.

Date: 2019-10-01 03:32 am (UTC)How kind. No, they're both quite suspicious of me, though I can't blame them. We've been through a lot he and I.
[A beat]
Brownies would be lovely. Whatever kind you'd like to make.

Unless you'd prefer a chaperone.

Date: 2019-10-07 11:44 pm (UTC)No. I walk straight into the spider's den, me.
I just haven't done girl-time-stuff in... [Face crinkle. She REALLY could NOT count the time with Keisha because wow. Annnnd so definitely before the Doctor? Yes. One of the Fridays Mickey was either working or watching a game and they went clubbing.] Five years, and it was clubbin', and I kinda got the impression you had a little more exquisitely refined tastes. [Wink and tongue loll.] Besides, you've got roommates too, don'cha?

Date: 2019-10-08 05:49 pm (UTC)[She grinned, chuckling.]
I'm still fairly new at the "girl stuff," myself. I do confess, that took some getting used to. Besides, I've been known to drink and carry on in my time, though I dare say it's been a teensy bit longer than five years ago.
[Another laugh. Ah, youth.]
Oh and I live with a child and a humanoid artificial intelligence. They won't mind.

Date: 2019-10-08 07:49 pm (UTC)[Amused giggle snort. Drink and carry on sets mental images of planets burning in her head, but yanno. One man's trash is another woman's treasure....]
Right I should bring something for 'em too.... I have no idea what Artificial Intelligences uh... can enjoy? Consume? Oh! Wait, it's Janet, right? I'll ask Michael. But yeah be right over soon as I get the baking done. I... could try magicking it, but then if I mess it up, it'll be worse... soooooo best not, yeah? Your call if you wanna keep talking! I enjoy listenin' anyway.

Date: 2019-10-10 02:10 am (UTC)[She grins.]
Janet and Ivy, yes. Don't let me distract you, dear. I'll see you soon enough. Just let yourself in.

Date: 2019-10-10 01:30 pm (UTC)She sets the book aside, standing with a smile when the door opens.]
Welcome,dear. Come in, come in!

Date: 2019-10-10 03:27 pm (UTC)[She chuckles and gestures for Rose to put them on the table. Crossing to the kitchen, she puts the kettle on. How domestic, really!]
It's really just one prison to another. I just have a longer leash and a more fresh air here.

Date: 2019-10-10 04:02 pm (UTC)[And a head tilt.] Is it prison for you? Here, I mean?

Date: 2019-10-10 04:44 pm (UTC)In a manner of speaking, yes. And this is the last stop for me, I'm afraid. Call it what you will, but a cage the size of a planet is still a cage.

Date: 2019-10-10 04:56 pm (UTC)[He'd cuffed Margaret the Slitheen before, but... really?]
[She wolf growls in spite of herself, handing Missy a brownie.] How many people have you killed?
[But it's not numbers. It's remorse. She's seen the Doctor devastated by even one death, so even if he had killed more than her, it wasn't the number.]
[Meta....]
Damn him...
[Snarls and growls, spinning the chair backwards to lean on it.] He really... That is--! [Another wolf growl and huff.]

Date: 2019-10-10 06:06 pm (UTC)She slowly lowered herself into a chair, taking the offered brownie. Someone was angry on her behalf. That had never happened before. Except for the Doctor, of course. This was entirely foreign to her. This girl presumably knew who she was, had been warned about her, and yet was furious about the Doctor keeping tabs on her. She... Wasn't sure how she felt about that.
The question caught her off guard. She hesitated, hands lowering to the table as the names and faces flitted through her mind. She turned her head, looking down as she fought to keep those pesky new emotions in check. It hadn't been so long since she'd cried for the first time in millenia. Cried over those she'd killed. Actually grieved. Her voice was soft when she finally answered. ]
Millions... Perhaps billions. It's... Difficult to know.

Date: 2019-10-10 06:18 pm (UTC)I'm sorry he's a giant idiot.
But I'm glad you're trying something new. It doesn't get easier, not ever. But it stays better. Always.

Date: 2019-10-10 06:41 pm (UTC)[A small squeeze, but then a bad wolf huff before pouring them both tea, and going back to her chair.]
It's hard to even deal with taking one life, even if you didn't want it, didn't do it, tried not to let it happen. The first time you can really start thinking of other ways, ways to make people survive...
[But she chews her bottom lip, thinking of Donna.]
[And just fuzzily shakes her head.]
Was he always like this? So... [No, she can't ask that.]
[Welllllll... in a word...]
Commandeering?
He wasn't when I first met him. After the war. Oh sure, he could be bossy, and threatened to kick Jack out on his ass over guns, but I thought...
He always said he didn't come to save Earth, he was just passing through. But now it seems like... [She just shrugs vaguely, not about to open up one of his possible vulnerabilities to an even hypothetical enemy.]
Commandeering, yeah? And it's not just around you. Blimey I nearly knocked him one first night, for treating me more like a child than my own parents. [Snorts.] That's definitely new. For whatever reason. [To protect himself, she has to assume.]
[And she facepalms.] I swear I did not come here to talk about him, just you.
