[Now there's a voice she hadn't expected to hear. Certainly she knew about the infamous Rose Tyler. She'd had a lot of time to spy on the Doctor during her time as Queen of the Afterlife, after all. She knew about all of his little pets... or whatever he called them. Though she hadn't expected the girl to contact her like this... or at all. She smiles.]
I'm surprised the Doctor didn't warn you to stay away from me. [She gasps] Or did he do just that and you've decided to talk to me anyway? You naughty thing.
They don't call me the Bad Wolf, because I take orders and stay put, yeah?
I'm making you brownies. Kind of hurts getting to a new universe, thinkin' you found him again and he's all... you know. I kinda thought he'd be a bit more thrilled to see another TimeLord at all. Maybe not his youngest self, but definitely the older one. He certainly whined about bein' alone enough. And if you're even a tenth as out of sorts about this as I feel about school, you've definitely earned a real treat. Not just tea. A proper gooey whole pan of comfort food.
Or is sweets just a him thing? His first face I met wasn't the type, but the rest of him seems to eat nothin' but sugar, I swear.
[That gave her pause. She'd never expected that... least of all from Rose. Such kindness towards the person who's tried to kill her precious Doctor again and again. Why Doctor, you certainly know how to pick them.]
How kind. No, they're both quite suspicious of me, though I can't blame them. We've been through a lot he and I.
[A beat]
Brownies would be lovely. Whatever kind you'd like to make.
Right. So. I assume you're not you you at the moment. Or you're some other you. But to help out the current you you I am probably definitely going to see you naked. ... Is that alright? Or shall I find someone else?
Most definitely a mouse that's in the same predicament as you. [just a guess. He sneezes and an army of paper doves fly out of his nose.] Why pollen? Why now? Ugh... [he blows his nose with a handkerchief and then]
[She SIGHS heavily.] Oh, yes, tell me how much of a burden your pollen allergy is. I'm sure that's much more of an inconvenience than being turned into a mouse.
[She snaps, very much irritated with this turn of events.]
Yes, yes, fine. I'd rather you than any of the other idiots here.
I wasn't saying it was worse, I was just complaining about it. [he sniffles] But it could be worse. Just think of it as seeing the world from a new perspective.
After her discussion with Beetlejuice, Lydia was realizing that she didn't exactly feel like her usual, nice, self. She was actually pretty angry. And whereas most people would try to talk her down ... Lydia didn't want to be talked down, she just wanted to be listened to. And she had a feeling she knew just where to go.
Still seething a little by the time she reached the apartments, she tromped up the stairs, letting her Doc Martens vent the last of her fury in the stairwell before walking calmly down the hall to the door with her friend's name on it.
"Missy? Are you home? It's Lydia.... I really need to talk to you."
It took a moment for the door to open. Missy had been working on plans for the next series of tents she was making with the Doctor. Wanting them to be a surprise, she had to roll them up before answering the clarion call of fist on door.
When she did she had a bright smile for her young companion. "Lydia! How are you, dear?"
"Not. Great." Even though she was frowning, she still managed to look apologetic somehow. If Missy was in a good mood, she would feel pretty awful if she ruined it.
"I think I'm really close to losing my temper, and it's ... if I did it wouldn't be a good thing. At all. But at the same time I ..." She grit her teeth, just imagining the number of reactions she could get if she didn't, if she just held it together and carried on as usual. "... I really want to. Even though - nngh. I have something planned, and now I'm really worried it won't work."
Missy frowned, concerned. No one had ever come to her for advice before. This was a new experience for her. But it was Lydia and she wanted to try.
She stepped out of the way, gesturing for her to come inside. "come on, come in. You can lose it all you want in here. In the meantime, I'll make us some tea."
"Thanks," she said with obvious relief, sinking into a chair. "I always feel like I have to be nice and polite around everyone else ... not that I don't try to be around you, too, but ... you're always so straight with me, I figured you'd be the one who'd mind the least if I wasn't ... I don't know."
She groaned. "Anyway, it's Mal. We've almost been here a year and she's still so hung up on the way people did things where she lived, with this clear-cut Good versus Evil thing, and ... even though I know she can be good, and she'd probably be happier that way, she keeps on insisting she's Evil, but ... if she's here as an Apprentice, and a Princess no less .... being Evil isn't going to help anything! The Mirror wouldn't have grabbed her if she were, right? I mean - I wanted us all to go on a mission together because I thought she might see that you can still be really awesome and powerful and strong and not have to act like a total jerk all the time. You know. Like you do. But she's just ... she's so stubborn and I'm sick of living with it day in and day out! I even put her to sleep once because she was overdoing it, and instead of waking up and realizing that yes, we managed just fine without her and she didn't have to do everything herself, she flipped out on me because back home sleep spells aren't supposed to affect her! She never focuses on what's important, only on ... on ... on HERSELF, and I can't take it anymore! It's like trying to blow down a brick wall!"
She blew out a heavy sigh. "Shit."
Instantly, her eyes widened... but to her credit, she managed to stop herself from apologizing.
[Someone saw you leaving. Someone allowed you to leave. Someone is wondering a lot of things. Such as why did you? Boredom could definitely be a reason. Is there anything else that is underlining that? When Ten looks and speaks. There isn't any hate for having been trapped in a cage or trapping the others. After all, they all were okay outside of being trapped.]
[The video shows a bare wooden ceiling. She's not ready to face him, so she's laid the mirror on a nearby table. There's a long moment of silence before she responds.]
